Regional Coordinating Council-Housing & Transit

Our panel takeaways:

Housing does not exist at the level it is needed.

For people needing affordable housing, the transportation burden continues to be high.

There are more efforts to develop affordable housing (e.g., TOD Development Fund, affordable housing projects in Denver, Englewood, Littleton, and Sheridan) and to locate it close to transit.

Homesharing is becoming a popular option to obtain below market housing in exchange for services like providing transportation.

NIMBYSIM can be a challenge

Advocates are needed to help educate communities on overall benefits of affordable housing and how it can help people gain a foothold into decent housing (young families, older adults, teachers/county employees).
