Mobility and Access for All!

The Council has determined that the following projects represent the immediate need for improvement of mobility and access in the Denver Metropolitan area.  For more information, please contact us at secretary@drmac-co.org

Transportation Provider Database

In order to develop a comprehensive solution to the mobility and access issues facing individuals in the Denver Metropolitan region, a complete inventory of current transportation service must be undertaken.  At present, only smaller sample plans are being considered or undertaken.  Adams County, for one, has done an excellent job with their effort.  But in order to serve the entire region, such a comprehensive review must be undertaken with an eye toward not only identifying every transportation provider but also maintaining that list in a manner that allows for its effective use.

This project is primarily a research project aimed at gathering information but will require continued funding to be able to sustain the list and form the foundation for a coordinated transportation service in the future.

Coordinated Call Center

This is the vision for the United We Ride program which recently launched its "One Vision: One Call" campaign.  Under this effort, individuals within the Denver area would have a single phone number to call, perhaps using the 511 traveller information number already available through the Colorado Department of Transportation or as an adjunct to the city's 211 Human Services call number.

While the specific means of accomplishing this task can remain indeterminate at this time, work needs to commence to begin the process of gaining acceptance and approval from the various stakeholders to turn this vision into a reality.  Funding is needed to initiate the various discussions needed to establish a framework within which such a "one stop" call center can be developed.  Naturally, our effort to develop a database of transportation providers must be complete before such a project can be successful.

Coordinated Human Services Plan

In conjunction with CDOT, the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), and the RTD, DRMAC proposes to provide guidance and advice in the development of the coordinated human services transportation plan.  This plan is a requirement under federal funding regulations and should become the blueprint for a future coordination effort among the various agencies involved.  DRMAC's role in this is currently being discussed but funding for the infrastructure is needed.
